Summer Slam 2018!

It’s back. The have-a-go, all about the fun ‘off-season’ Spoken Word SA poetry slam. And with a professional wrestling inspired name what else would you expect? It’s all about newbies and the oldies with new material.

Three heats and a final. Each heat will see three people go through to the final and to round out the ten finalists there will be a ‘Spoken Word SA wildcard’ who also gets through.

The exact same rules as the national finals. This means nothing to be performed that was used in the 2017 Australian Poetry Slam or before. But it is a great chance to craft some material for next years competition.

Heat 1: Saturday 6th January. Brick City Bar.
73 Grenfell Street ($6 entry). 7.30pm sign up for 8.00 start.

Heat 2: Saturday 20th January. Southwark Hotel.
77 Port Road, Thebarton (a FREE tram-substitute trip out of the city; $6 entry). 7.30pm sign up for 8.00 start.

Heat 3: Saturday 27th January. Broadcast Bar.
66A Grote Street ($6 entry). 7.30pm sign up for 8.00 start.

Summer Slam Final: Saturday 3rd February. Jive Nightclub.
181 Hindley Street. ($10 entry) 7.00pm door open for 7.30 start.

Summer Slam Heat 4 winners!

It was hot on the floor, in the air, along the Mall, but nothing got close to the contestants on the night! Some great words, an excellent crowd, the usual Coffee Pot monster vibe, and huge cheers to winner, Ailsinn Rossi and, runner-up, Mike Hopkins. Both are off the Summer Slam Final Friday 10th February at Jive. Click here for details.
