After three heats of fresh voices and fiery words, we will have our ten Summer Slam finalists for 2023!
Come watch our ten finalists battle it out with words and wits to win the top spot. Competitors will have two minutes to impress the judges who will be randomly selected from the audience.
If you’ve never been to a Poetry Slam before, this will be the perfect introduction! Bring along some friends and experience the excitement of competitive performance poetry. You might even be selected as a judge!
We are also going to be treated to a feature set from singer-songwriter Madeleine Rainey.
Growing up on the Fleurieu, Rainey found peace in learning her favourite songs on her old acoustic guitar. She is inspired by Tasmanian rock icon Bec Stevens and folk angel Julia Jacklin, and writes songs about her experiences with chronic disease, heart ache and being young in an ever-changing climate.
This will be an event NOT TO BE MISSED! Poetry, music, a full bar, and our illustrious MC Sarah Jane Justice attempting to throw chocolate bars up to the balcony of Jive! What’s not to love?
