Our last Slam Skills Workshop nearly sold out! The feedback we received was that the people want more… so here it is. This second workshop will be happening between heats two and three of the Australian Poetry Slam. We want to give all our competitors an opportunity to bring their A-game. You don’t need to be a “competition poet” to join in – this is also for those who just want to learn a new skill, or hone their craft.

The Australian Poetry Slam is Australia’s highest level of competition for spoken word and performance poetry. National winners have taken their voices to the world’s stage, performing at prestigious events and seeing their writing published for all to read.

⭐ Here’s what’s even better: those opportunities don’t stop at just the winner! ⭐

National finalists, state finalists, and even those who impress the crowds at the heats, can find themselves led down a path to incredible achievements. This year, we’re inviting you to make the most of this opportunity by honing your skills in a casual and supportive workshop. Over a 90-minute session, Spoken Word SA co-director Sarah Jane Justice will guide you through writing, performance, technique, and confidence.

EVERYONE is welcome: beginners, experienced poets, writers that want to try performance, people who want to learn a new skill… we want to see all of you! But places are limited: make sure you book in advance.
