There is a maximum of 20 poets per heat, so make sure to get there on time!

Rules

Two poets chosen by the audience at each of our five South Australian heats will head to the SA Final. The winner and runner-up of the SA Final will be off to Nationals in Sydney!

Guest performer for Heat 3: Matcho Makata

Matcho is an Actor, Writer, Performance Poet, Dance Teacher, Community leader, Theatre Producer, Movement Enthusiast, Event Manager, Publisher and Creative Director of Soul Lounge Australia, Organiser of Soul Lounge Naarm.

Matcho is known for poems that focus on exploring through identity, incorporating a bi-lingual ability into rhythm, Matcho’s poems can be a sensory adventure, weaving thought provoking imagery with cadence through a whimsical empowering performance whether it’s hurt, identity, happiness, artistry addiction, or bringing to light unseen POC related issues, Matcho gives all heart through repetitive practice on their craft infusing all they’ve learnt from dramaturgy, dance, projection art within performance poetry.

Producer of ‘Journey’ a twice sold out Spoken-word show in a 160 seated theatre. Matcho has taught Krump in Community Centers, Movement Warehouses and Juvenile prisons.
