SA Heat 2 of the 2025 Australian Poetry Slam thrilled a packed house with high quality performances at the State Library of South Australia. After a ballot to select the final five spots for the night from an over-subscribed sign-up list (only 20 are allowed to compete in any heat), the poets presented an awesome display of spoken word performances. After practicing their skills with a sacrificial poem from Jazz, judging was tight and some excellent scores were reduced due to time-overrun penalties (yes, you really do have only 2 minutes). While the scores were tallied, we were entertained by the prodigious talent of guest performer, Cecilia Ronson.

In the end, we congratulated winner TJ and runner-up Nigel Ford, both of whom will be off to the SA State Final at Goodwood Theatre & Studios on 27th September 2025.
