Full house for Australian Poetry Slam SA Heat 4 at Campbelltown Library

On a cold winter’s night, Campbelltown Library was packed out for SA Heat 4 of the Australian Poetry Slam. With the sign-up list thoroughly over-subscribed, following a ballot in accordance with National Rules, it was unfortunate that several poets missed out on a chance to perform this time around. After another round of diverse and entertaining performances, tight judging and unabated audience enthusiasm, congratulations to Heat 4 winner Peter Wilkes and runner-up Stephanie Mylan. They are both off to the SA State Final at Goodwood Theatre and Studios on Saturday 27th September.

Special thanks to Campbelltown Library supporting this event with a fabulous venue, refreshments and prize money for the winner and runner-up. Big thanks to our amazing guest performer Emelia Haskey, sacrificial poet Kerryn Tredrea, and our SWSA volunteers. And of course, thanks to the poets, the judges and the audience, without whom, there would be no event.

There is one last chance to compete for the final two spots in this year’s state final: SA Heat 5 is Thursday 11 September at Jive. Click here for details.
