Dymocks Dead Poets Society – Kate Bristow in tribute to Leonard Cohen, Thursday 16th February

SPOKEN WORD SA proudly brings you the start of the new season for the Dead Poets Society monthly event at

Dymocks Adelaide

135 Rundle Mall Adelaide

6:00 – 8:30 pm Thursday 16th February.

2017 will kick off with our tribute to Leonard Cohen.

Leonard Norman Cohen (September 21, 1934 – November 7, 2016) was a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, poet, novelist, and painter. His work mostly explored religion, politics, isolation, sexuality, and personal relationships. Cohen pursued a career as a poet and novelist during the 1950s and early 1960s, and did not launch a music career until 1967, at the age of 33. www.leonardcohen.com

Ironically we had selected Cohen as our poet in October last year prior to his sudden and sad demise.

Presenting her tribute to Leonard will be local poet and author, Kate Bristow. Kate has been an English teacher for 40 years, a member of Friendly Street Poets for 15 and is currently a member of the Tea Tree Gully Writers group.

Remember it’s FREE ENTRY.

A selection of poetic works will be available for sale; in particular Book of Longing from Cohen.

There is an open mic, where you can read a poem by Leonard Cohen and one of your own that reflects his influence on you.
